Ó Irish Oyster Collective

Promoting Irish Oysters internationally with a mark of provenance and authenticity

With centuries of coastal heritage, Atlantic waters and an ever-moody climate, Irish oysters have a natural advantage. Premium, meaty and umami-rich, they are encased in distinctive teardrop-shaped shells, with each oyster reflecting the unique waters and mineral profile of its farm. Coveted by culinary explorers around the world, it became clear that a cohesive brand identity could play an important role in elevating the understanding and appreciation of the origin, character and quality of Irish oysters.

Of Nature. Of People.

A MARK OF PROVENANCE

The goal was to create a brand that acts as a guarantee and is distinctly modern Irish in tone, with a nod to the unspoilt coastal environmental advantage, teardrop Oysters and the nature of family run farms. We needed a name and solution that could bring together the group of oyster farms within the previously named Irish Oysters Packers Group — celebrating their produce as distinctly Irish while acting as an identifier and guarantee of provenance across packing and shipping. The word Ó, meaning from in Irish, combined with the form O, the first character of Oyster, provided a simple yet powerful identifier. It is locked up with and qualified by Irish Oyster Collective, acknowledging the multiple farms, and set within a distinctive stencil-cut form.

RAW, SIMPLE, POETIC

The hands-on year-round nature of Irish Oyster farming in beautiful environments albeit sometimes harsh conditions became the basis of our visual storytelling and photography - naturally raw and rugged like the oysters themselves. What sets Ó apart as a brand with its own identity is its language: an extension of the ‘Of Nature, Of People’ tagline and positioning. Simple, poetic language creates a quietly confident voice that conveys the product, the environment and the Collective.

The website as brand home

A digital presence in the form of brochure website was the ultimate realisation of this brand and the key representation, with far greater reach than presence at tradeshow events.
The website explains who and what Ó Irish Oyster Collective is, while profiling the product and its provenance and connecting visitors to farms dotted around the island. The launch also provided an opportunity to bring the individual farms on board, engaging them with the overarching organisation as their representative body internationally.
