An exclusive events venue with an equally exquisite interior with details inspired by art deco and celebrated Irish modernist Mainie Jellet, this area offers an extra plush experience, with a higher level of service and attention to detail, for events and special bookings. An extraordinary enclave, hidden away upstairs, where only the few lucky ones can enjoy a rarified evening.

A sub-brand of the 1878, Upstairs has an associated look and feel, with distinct and unique features— similarly to how the interiors are a decadent departure from the floor below.

TRANSCENDENT VISUALS

We designed the elegant script logotype and typographic style to move upwards, to give the sense that you are transcending to a higher space, one of greater opulence and style. This is supported by a suite of bespoke patterns that reference Mainie Jellet’s system of modernist, graphic abstraction to create a rich and immersive texture, with geometry relating back to the interior features.

Printed Communications

Plush high-spec menus in rich greens and pinks elevate the customer experience, with opulent details like colour contrasting tassels and inner pages.

Social Media

A social media style guide was developed to bring the atmosphere of the brand and interior space to the 1878’s channels, and communicate the new offering to existing and new members.
